Disqualified Ryley councillor re-elected, vows to keep election promises

Former Ryley councillor Nik Lee who had been disqualified while serving his previous term is back in office as the only incumbent.

Lee got 90 votes, just ahead of Sheldon Reid who got 86. The other councillors who have been elected are Samuel Kumson with 155 votes; Annette Short with 118 votes; and Nola Wood-Herrick with 102 votes.

“I feel honoured to be given the privilege of serving the residents of Ryley again, with an all-new council team,” Lee said. “The new councillors all share the same passion, which is to enhance the quality of life in Ryley. I also believe that being re-elected to council again, only eight months after the previous council sought my disqualification, is a vindication of my conduct by the electors.

“As can be seen from the recent election, the electors sent a clear repudiation of the conduct of the previous council. I feel truly honoured to have been given the opportunity to represent my community again.”

He believes the village of Ryley has huge amounts of untapped potential . . . contd.
