Thefts and mischiefs on the rise

The Tofield RCMP responded to 43 occurrences from Nov. 1 to 7, 2021 (inclusive). Also included in these calls for service were nine traffic complaints/tickets, nine suspicious person/vehicle complaints, seven wellbeing checks, two 911 complaints/false alarms, one motor vehicle collision and traffic enforcement provided by the K Division Traffic Unit.

On Nov. 1, Tofield RCMP responded to a fraud complaint in Holden. RCMP spoke to the complainant who advised that they had received a request to pay and outstanding invoice from a business that they had used for past services. The complainant paid the invoice online through the link provided in the business email, although when confirming with the business a couple days later on the phone, it was found that the payment was not received by the business and that it was paid to an unknown person through a fraudulent link in the email. This file is still under investigation.

On Nov. 1, Tofield RCMP responded to a residential break and enter in Beaver County. RCMP attended and found that entry was gained through an unlocked door and once inside, suspect(s) obtained various personal items. This file is still under investigation.

On Nov. 3, Tofield RCMP responded to an uttering threats complaint in Tofield. RCMP attended and spoke to the complainant who stated that they had received a note from a known individual who had threatened them. This file is still under investigation. . . . contd.
