Local drummer AJ Howse wants 2023 to be special

Tofield’s AJ Howse’s dreams were to be on ice and play hockey like most Canadians, but his heart led him to be a drummer, and it’s his dream along with his band to “make 2023 the year”.

“I originally started drumming on couch pillows and blankets when I was young,” Howse recalled. “I always thought I’d join hockey but it was too expensive for us. So I bloomed a little late but eventually I got my start with my own kit drum around the age of 15.”

And that’s what he has been doing ever since, joining his first band at 21.

A Tofield School graduate Howse said, “Music inspires me to be better; to push boundaries, if you will. I get absolutely lost in some songs and even furthermore when I’m on stage playing, I don’t think of anything else but the moment. It’s amazing!” . . . contd.
