Wait times at walk-in clinics have nearly doubled from 2022 to 2023, according to a report from Medimap.

In 2023, the average wait time to see a doctor at a walk-in clinic in Grande Prairie was about 72 minutes.

The report says that in 2023, the average wait time in Alberta was 66 minutes, compared to 32 in 2022.

Medimap, a tech company, compiled the report using its software that tracks wait times at walk-in clinics nationwide.

It says about 70 per cent of walk-in clinics are utilizing its service.

The national wait time average is 68 minutes, an increase of 31 from 2022’s average of 37 minutes.

Medimap says wait times in Edmonton are about 73 minutes; in Calgary 68 and 72 minutes in Red Deer.

The shortest wait times in Canada were in Ontario (59 minutes) and Manitoba (45), while the longest wait times were in British Columbia (93).

In B.C., the longest wait times are in North Vancouver, where the average wait time is about 187 minutes.
