Edson RCMP arrest local male for break and enter twice within three days
On May 10, 2024 the Edson RCMP received a call for a break and enter in progress at a residence in Edson. The police attended the location right away but the suspect had already fled the scene.
Through a swift investigation, the male suspect was located and arrested. After his arrest, the investigator was able to link the suspect to three other incidents in Edson: a residential break and enter from May 7, 2024, a theft from a vehicle from May 8, 2024 and a mischief from May 9, 2024. Edson RCMP then charged the male with 9 offences across all incidents. The male was brought before a justice of the peace, who released him conditions.
Then, on May 13, 2024, the Edson RCMP received a call for a break and enter in a residence in Edson. A witness identified the person who committed the break and enter; the same male responsible for the above incidents. Shortly after, the male was located and arrested by the Edson RCMP.
As a result of the investigations, Riley Joseph Belcourt (27), a Yellowhead County resident, was charged with multiple counts, including break and enter, theft and mischief. He was once again brought before a justice of the peace after the May 13 incident and remanded into custody.
His next court date is set for June 4, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Edson.
