Teenager from Michigan found to be behind bomb threat to school in Sherwood Park

Strathcona County RCMP have successfully identified the individual responsible for the bomb threat at Bev Facey school on June 17, 2024 (original story in the June 19 edition of The Tofield Mercury).

Following a thorough investigation, it was determined that a 17-year-old male from Michigan, USA, was behind the threat.

It was confirmed that the male had no connections to the school or community, making the incident appear to be random.

The safety and well-being of students and staff are of utmost importance, and the school acted swiftly and effectively upon receiving the threat to ensure the safety of all individuals present.

Threats to schools are taken very seriously, and we are grateful for the quick response and cooperation of all involved in handling this situation.
