Female killed after being struck by vehicle near Sherwood Park Mall

On April 17, 2025, at 2:30 p.m., Strathcona County RCMP received a complaint stating that a woman was struck by a vehicle at the Sherwood Park Mall parking lot.

Life saving efforts were done on scene by members of the public and then by EMS.

Unfortunately, the 60-year-old female resident of Sherwood Park succumbed to her injuries.

Though the investigation is still ongoing, initial findings suggest that the vehicle got caught on the median and, while trying to get unstuck, the accelerator was depressed too forcefully, causing the vehicle to strike the pedestrian.

The thoughts of the Alberta RCMP are with the friends and family of the deceased.
