Parkland County RCMP and partners rescue stranded boaters

On Oct. 15, 2024, at 2:45 p.m., Parkland RCMP were dispatched to assist stranded boaters on the North Saskatchewan River after their jet boat ran aground on a rock bed in the middle of the river.

Working in cooperation with our partners in Parkland Search and Rescue, a swift water rescue team was deployed and made it safely to the stranded boaters.

With guidance from an RCMP Officer, the stranded boaters were taught how to use their on-board winch which they then used to dislodge themselves from the rock bed and returned safely to shore.

Parkland RCMP would like to remind boaters to be aware of water levels and boating conditions and know what tools they have at their disposal before heading out on the water.
