Huge hit, marathon scrap highlight Satellites win Saturday remaining only undefeated team in BRHL
THE WIN
Tofield Satellites re-main the only unbeaten team in the Battle River Hockey League (BRHL) after erasing a 2-0 first period deficit to come back and defeat last season’s playoff rival Sedgewick Sabres 5-2 at Tofield Arena, Saturday…
THE HIT
With the Satellites holding on to the lead, Greg Holmberg delivered one of the biggest open ice hits of the season which ultimately left both players laid-out on the ice. Holmberg left the game with a head and neck injury but the clean check inspired his teammates to continue playing and hitting hard even with the lead…
THE FIGHT
Right after the goal, Sedgewick’s Logan Morrison and Tofield tough-guy Dan Chambers dropped the gloves and had one of the best fights at Tofield Arena in a long time. Both men showed their spirit and perseverance landing and taking rapid-fire shots to the head but not going down. Tiring, Chambers and Morrison switched hands and began landing with their weaker arms before changing over again.
Both players finally wrestled to the ice as the referees broke up the impressive clash which will end up with both warriors being handed another game suspension for fighting late in a game.
THIS WEEK
The win kept Tofield in first place in the BRHL standings at 4-0. This week Satellites are on the road, playing the always competitive Daysland Northstars on Wednesday, and then Saturday travel to Irma for a game against the Aces. Tofield hosts the Aces on Saturday, Dec. 1 at Tofield Arena.
