Ermergency services to be shut dow weekday evenings from May 1 to Oct. 1 at Tofield Health Centre
Beaver County Councillor Sieko Scott, who sits on the Beaver Emergency Services Board, said AHS would be unable to get physicians to help cover at the Tofield Health Centre until Oct. 1.
The shut-down of the emergency ward at the hospital from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday to Thursday would be in effect from May 1 to Sept. 30, he said.
“Anybody in the long-term care (needing emergency care) will have to be taken to another hospital,” he said, adding this would be the responsibility of Beaver Emergency Services to do the transporting.
Scott expressed concern that this extra responsibility would further tie up ambulances which are already stretched in terms of availability for calls.
