County considering gravel options of retaining a multi-year contractor or hiring individual truckers and contractors

Beaver County is considering its options for future gravel haul contracts.

The committee of the whole discussed five options at its Aug. 3 meeting and favoured two of them for further consideration.

Up to 2010 the gravel haul contract was tendered out annually. That changed in 2011 when a three-year gravel haul contract was agreed to with one company.

There was an option to extend the contract for another two years after the initial three years was finished.
