Devastating fire in Winnipeg holds lessons for local firefighters

Fires are frightening events that most people run away from, as far away as possible in fact. Firefighters are trained to go into the belly of the beast of a fire and battle the monster at its heart.
And sometimes they get hurt and even killed doing it. That kind of awful incident happened one wintery day in Winnipeg when two senior fire captains lost their lives while battling a residential house fire. Four other firefighters were also injured.
Local members of the Tofield Fire Department attended the session, along with Mayor Nabil Chehayeb and Tofield councillor Larry Tiedemann, and Reeve Bob Young and county councillor Sieko Scott.
