Tofield gearing up for 36th Annual Sodbuster Rodeo

One of the mainstays of the Tofield community has been the Sodbuster Rodeo, which will be held from June 1 to 3 this year.

In its 36th year, the three-day rodeo is more of a festival for Tofield and area, packing in fun for the entire family.

Rodeo chair Rick Neufeld anticipates another full entry this year with more than 300 cowboys and cowgirls participating.

Co-sanctioned with both the Lakeland Rodeo Association and the Wildrose Rodeo Association, the Tofield Sodbuster Rodeo is one of the favourites in the local rodeo circuit, drawing a large number of entries.

The weekend will kick off with the always popular Rodeo Promenade, which is a street fair on Main Street on Friday, June 1 from 5 – 9 p.m. Hosted by the Tofield Chamber of Commerce, and supported by a great number of businesses in Tofield and area, this event brings in a lot of out-of-town visitors.

“With food, entertainment, a vendors’ market, and more, it will be a great time,” said Vanita Eglauer of the Tofield Agricultural Society and who is integrally associated with the rodeo organization.
