Theone Jones reflects on the first Sodbuster Rodeo
When Theone Jones and her husband Glenn Jones decided to start a rodeo in Tofield way back in 1983, both their sons, Barry and Mark were already established bareback riders.
“We would spend so much time driving them around,” Jones recalled. “On some weekends we would be going to more than one rodeo . . . it was wonderful.”
Although both Jones and Glenn weren’t active rodeo participants, they had been around the circuit for years with Glenn being part of some of the committees such as the Lakeland Rodeo Association for 35 years.
“Along the line rodeo just got into our blood,” Jones said. “So it just made sense to start up a rodeo here in town.”
