Busy B Bargains helping community and environment

When Busy B Bargains opened its doors in February 1982, it had one objective: to give.

“It was the Heart month and what could be better than to give back to the community,” said Yvonne Brown, one of the committee members beaming. “So along with Evelyn Moore and Gloria Berg we started this journey.”

Anyone who has been a part of Tofield and area for a few weeks will know Brown – a steadfast volunteer who has grown Busy B Bargains from a committee of three to a board of nine members now and a volunteer base of 65-70 and counting.

“When we first started we knew there was a need, so we let the public know that we were gathering second-hand items and it didn’t take very long for them to see that not only could they help people, but also save the environment,” Brown explained. “We take anything that we get and make use of it so that the landfills breathe a little easy.”

As Brown puts it: “we have everything, but spouses and children.”
