Temporary alterations to roadways
With the multinational pipeline transport company Interpipeline deciding to move a large oilfield pressure vessel from Edmonton to Fort McMurray, via Tofield, some roadway alterations will be required.
“The anticipated move date is Jan. 16, 2019,” said Jeff Edwards, Assistant CAO, Town of Tofield. “Due to the sheer size of this vessel it is necessary to have temporary alterations made to roadways, intersections etc. along the course of travel for this vessel.”
This work has begun in two separate locations according to Edwards, one being the corner of highways 834 and 626, within town limits, and the second being the corner of Hwy. 626 and the highload corridor.
“This temporary work has been approved by Alberta Transportation, as both locations are provided service through this agency,” Edwards explained. “The scope of work will take approximately seven days from start to finish, barring any adverse weather.”
