Irvings Farm hosts tours as part of Alberta Open Farm Days

As part of the annual Alberta Open Farm Days, Irvings Farm opened up its operations to visitors and customers on Sunday, Aug. 19.

Located just south of Tofield, the pig farm is owned by husband-wife duo, Alan and Nicola Irving who raise Berkshires on their farm.

“Open Farm Days gives us a chance to show customers what we do here at Irvings Farm Fresh Ltd., and they can visit the outdoor pigs and meat shop, with a chance to ask questions, and see first hand how we do things,” Nicola Irving said. “We take the opportunity to serve a complimentary lunch to our guests at the Open House.”

Nicola Irving explains to visitors what they feed the Berkshire pigs raised on their farm.

According to Nicola, it is their chance to give back to regular customers, besides enabling them to sample some of their products.

“It also provides a lunch stop on a busy day as there are not many options for eating out when visiting rural farms,” Nicola added.
