Fenske rallies local PCs on eve of election call
Doug Griffiths tells the crowd to prepare themselves for “the ugliest, rudest, nastiest campaign in your life,” from the opposition parties
With a provincial election call expected Mon-day, the county’s two local Progressive Cons-ervative candidates held a “meet and greet” to rally local supporters Saturday at the Tofield Community Hall.
Tofield Mayor Nabil Chehayeb and town councillor Larry Tiede-mann, both on the Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville PC Association executive, were there to offer their support to the candidates.
Jacquie Fenske, a Strathcona county councillor, is running in the riding of Fort Saskatch-ewan-Vegreville, while Doug Griffiths, Minister of Municipal Affairs, is running for re-election in Battle River-Wainwright. Pre-election changes to riding boundaries has extended Griffiths’ riding north into the south end of Beaver County, scooping up the Town of Ryley and Village of Holden as new areas for him to represent if re-elected.
