Annual Pancrêpfle Supper a huge success

This past Saturday, Jan. 19, the Bardo Lutheran Church hosted their annual Pancrêpfle Supper with a great turnout of more than 100 community members and supporters.

“We had pancakes, crêpes, and waffles, plus ham and a variety of delectable toppings,” said Jennifer Heiberg, one of the church members and organizers. “We are very grateful to the community for supporting us, and look forward to seeing those smiling faces at our supper next year.”

The Church restarted their annual event six years ago, and it has been a great run. “The purpose of this fundraiser has always been mission-oriented,” said Lynne Langager. “This year the proceeds are for a hospital construction project in Nebaj, Guatemala.”

Last fall the Church had hosted missionary doctor Juan Pablo Noriega and his wife Carolina.

“They shared with us their vision of promoting health and sharing love with the poorest of the poor in Nebaj and the mountainous rural areas around that city,” Langager explained. “We have the opportunity to help bring to fruition the vision of a 30-bed hospital complete with x-ray, laboratory, maternity, and dental areas.”

The Lutheran congregation has been partnering with their support organization, Missionary Ventures Canada, since their first team trip to Guatemala in 2007. . . . . contd.
