Former Ryley resident donates to Busy B

Former Ryley resident Al Girard visited the Tofield community a second time on Friday, Feb. 8 despite the biting cold, driving all the way from Edmonton, where he now lives.

Girard has been downsizing for a while and has packed boxes of books and other household items.

“I go to Goodwill and Value Village, and have donated some there, but I am usually the third or fourth car in line,” Girard said. “So I started thinking how can I get this done faster.”

That made him think of Ryley and Tofield libraries.

Girard poses for a picture inside his car before unloading boxes.

“As members of the Knights of Columbus, charity is a huge part of of what we do,” explained Girard. “So after donating some books to the Tofield Library, I thought I would donate some to the Ryley Library, but when we didn’t hear back from them sooner, I decided to put it out on social media, and that’s how we were directed to Busy B in Tofield.” . . . contd.
