Semi rollover on Monday afternoon shuts off Highway 14 temporarily

On Monday afternoon, April 1, Highway 14 was closed for a couple of hours between Tofield and Ryley because of a semi rollover.

“The driver had non-life-threatening injuries, and was lucky to be attended to by medics in military buses, which were travelling from Edmonton to Wainwright just behind him,” said Cpl. Sheryl Cody of Tofield RCMP detachment.

He was stabilized, according to Cody till the emergency vehicle arrived at the scene.

“We’re not sure at the moment what caused the rollover, and it’s under investigation, but weather and road conditions have been ruled out,” Cody added.

The rollover was at the intersection of Hwy. 14 and Rge. Rd. 182, which blocked the entire highway resulting to traffic being rerouted till cleanup.

The semi lies on its side, awaiting for clean up and recovery vehicles.

“No other vehicles were involved in the accident,” Cody explained.
