Tofield School’s Class of 2019 graduates amidst friends and family
It was an afternoon of celebration as the Tofield School Class of 2019 participated in the graduation ceremony with 27 students graduating this year.
The MC for the event was Melissa Korpan, who started the event with a tribute to the Treaty 6 territory, followed by a brief introduction of herself, before the students were welcomed on stage. Abby Kropielnicki sang ‘O Canada,’ which was followed by an introduction of the dignitaries.
Valedictorian Mitchell Gates presented the address with the question, “What is the meaning of life?”
He said, “So many people, young and old, have a tough time answering that question, but wouldn’t you think that should be the first thing that we figure out, the purpose of our lives, the reason why we are doing everything that we are doing.
“There’s no right or wrong, everyone can have their own answer but to me, the meaning of life is happiness. I really believe that everything that we do throughout our lives is because we think it will either make us happier or less unhappy than if we didn’t do it. Even the things that we don’t want to do, like studying for a test all night.”
Gates ended his address by wishing all his fellow graduands and classmates a “wonderful journey.”
This was followed by the ‘Last Will and Testament’ by Joel Litwin and Dawson Gates.
Madison Iverson and Konner Cunnings thanked the advisors of the various committees who had been a part of all the arrangements, taking it upon themselves to make sure that everything ran smoothly that day. . . . contd.
