Promenade fun draws crowds from Tofield and area
It was four hours of sheer entertainment for kids and adults alike as Tofield’s Street Fair, or as it’s locally known, Promenade, hit the town’s Main Street on Friday, May 31, as a kickoff to the Sodbuster Rodeo.
“We’re really thankful for all our volunteers, but sometimes it can be a challenge to find people to do two-hour shifts, so we’re discussing other options for next year,” said one of the main organizers and Promenade committee members, Greg Litwin. “We’re eight of us on the committee, which is basically a sub-committee of the Tofield and Area Chamber of Commerce, and we ensure that everything gets done as they should be. It’s a lot of coordination and work, but at the end of it, we are so happy to be able to attract people into our community.”
Litwin added that this year they were happy to note that younger families and and new faces were a part of the four-hour family fun event.
“Weather can be a challenge, like it has been the past two years, but this year thankfully, we have been lucky,” Litwin said. “It’s important to plan ahead because we usually tend to host the Sodbuster Rodeo the same weekend as Camrose’s Jaywalkers’ Jamboree, which means the Promenade falls the same weekend and that can have rides overbooked if we don’t get them early enough.” . . . contd.
