Tofield’s 37th Annual Sodbuster Rodeo action packs arena

Tofield’s main annual event on the rodeo circuit – Sodbuster Rodeo – ended successfully after a three-day run this past weekend.

With the Promenade kicking off the event, the slack performance was held in the arena on Friday itself, May 31, followed by two more days of action from cowboys and cowgirls.

At the time of press, the unofficial results in each category were as follows:

Bareback – Colton McKinney on Golden Gates, 75; followed by Tanner Young on Tribute Affairs, 74.5.

Saddlebronc – Mark O Dempsey on Quam’s Mountain, 73.5; followed by Cole Vinsion on Quam’s Mountain, 70.5.

Bullriding – Armando Davila on Rocky, 78.

Bull riding champion at the Sodbuster Rodeo was Stettler’s Armando Davila on Rocky scoring 78. 

Tie Down Roping – Steve Horricks, 8.4; followed by Aaron Mercer, 9.6.

Steer Wrestling – Ben Terry, 5.3; followed by Jeff Heggie, 6.

Ladies Barrel Racing – Tracey Gulick, 15.579; followed by Kayley Anderson, 15.677.

Holden’s Haley Mabbutt completes her run in the Ladies Barrels.

Team Roping – Mark Flynn and Tristan Williams, 5.7; followed by Denim Fletcher and Cooper Olson, 6.

Junior Bull Riding – Cauyt Schmidt, 74.

Novice Horse – Paul Wanchuk on Summer Wages, 57.

Junior Barrels – Hailey Keith, 6.016; followed by Brooke Busenius, 16.129.

Pee Wee Barrels – Bree Keith, 16.394; followed by Jay Songhurst, 16.553.

Junior Steers – Nash Loewen, 71; followed by Cole Roth, 70.5.
