First Tofield School dance held after several years

On Friday, Oct. 4 Tofield School students from grades 7 and 8 attended an after-school dance.

The dance was hosted in the Tofield School gymnasium, with access to beverages and snacks at the venue.

The dance started at 6:30 p.m., ending at around 10 p.m.

“The dance was completely student-driven,” said Cathy Brown, dance supervisor and Grade 7/8 teacher. “I’m not quite sure how long ago the last dance was held, but it’s been many years, so I’m glad it’s back; it creates school spirit!” Brown added that the dance was all the talk in the hallways for days leading up to the big event.

She noted that the anticipation for the event built excitement for the students. . . .

“I liked that we could all of us get together and hang out,” said Grade 8 student Rachel Murray. “I wanted to go to the dance to see my friends and spend some time with them, and this was a really fun thing for us to do together!”

Murray thought that more dances should be held at the school since aside from sports there are not many options for after-school events . . . contd.
