New recruit joins Tofield RCMP detachment

The Tofield detachment has a new officer, Cst. Kevin Roscoe, who has been a part of the community for a couple of weeks.

As a direct recruit from Ottawa, Roscoe said, “There are pretty big differences between Ottawa and Tofield obviously, but we’re still close to a big city, so I can get my city fix if I need.”

Despite the differences, he is fond of the small town.

“But I like my quiet time as well so I think I’ll enjoy living here.”

Roscoe began training in June of last year, and graduated in December 2019.

Having worked as a correctional officer for three years at the Ottawa jail, Roscoe joined the RCMP.

“I’ve been interested in policing for the last 10 years or so and have finally met my goal,” Roscoe added. “Police work was appealing to me. As someone who prefers a vocation where they can be out and about and not just in the office all day, this was ideal for me.” . . . contd.
