Ryley Rebels Jr. Boys win first ever BRSJHAA, finish season with a perfect 20-0 record

The Ryley Rebels Jr. Boys Basketball finished off a magical season on the weekend by capturing the school’s first ever Battle River Schools Junior High Athletics Association (BRSJHAA) Championship in a team sport.

According to Ryley School Athletics Director Brent Anderson, the Rebels went into the Championships 17-0 having won the Ryley Tip-Off, Ryley/Tofield Mid-season Shootout, and Daysland Invitational tournaments while going 8-0 in league play.

To start off the championships, the Rebels defeated the Tofield Titans 99-40 with Colby Anderson leading the way with 54 points while Damien MacLeod had 22 points and Christian Pruden 17 points.

“Both regional semi-finals featured a scene from the famous basketball movie Hoosiers where in the movie Hickory, one of the smallest high schools in Indiana wins the state championship over South Bend, one of Indiana’s largest schools,” Anderson said. “This was recreated as the Rebels . . . contd.
