Mother heartbroken after son’s memorial cross stolen

At the back entrance to Elk Island between Hwy. 831 and Twp. Rd. 550, Marianne Armstrong had been visiting her son Braeden Bumphrey’s memorial cross in the ditch since July 2015.

“We put up the cross a month after his passing, in the ditch at the exact same spot where his truck had been impacted,” Armstrong said. “His father Dave, sister Kennedy, and I had made the cross at the time.”

However, in early September she found the cross missing.

“I found a note in late summer, handwritten on a scrap piece of paper asking us to remove the cross as they were annoyed with it and didn’t want to look at it any longer,” Armstrong added. . . . contd.
