Sunshine Villa residents celebrate National Red Head Day
Sunshine Villa residents celebrated National Red Head Day, which is considered to be Nov. 5. Activity Coordinator Julie Ishida, looked up information about the day and all things to do with red hair and developed a quiz, besides other fun activities.
“We had the opportunity to learn the significance of the MC1R gene!” Ishida said. “The MC1R gene – melanocortin 1 receptor – is the gene for red hair. And, that there is a day to celebrate that gene and its variants.”
The participants in the Red Head Day Activity answered questions about red headedness and how redheads fared in different historical times.
