Tofield snow storm that brought town to standstill

On March 17, 1951 on St. Patrick’s Day the snow storm that hit Tofield shut down Tofield and surrounding areas. Jerry Kallal recalls hearing the exact date from Stewart Ferguson, a long time Tofield resident.

“The roads were all drifted in and impassable; even the CN Rail had to bring the plow train from Jasper in o`rder to open the rail line. Rural schools were closed for a week.”
