Brett Holmberg found himself loose on a second period breakaway, faked a shot then went to his backhand lifting the puck over Big Valley goalie Lance Clark’s pads to score the winning goal as Tofield Satellites downed the Oil Kings 3-2 on Sunday evening at Tofield Arena.

The local Sea Cadet Corps (RCSCC Nootka) and the Navy League of Canada Holden Branch started off their training year with a successful event on Friday, Oct. 19th.

Village of Holden Communities in Bloom Committee (CIB) is celebrating another provincial award. For the second year in a row, Holden has achieved top spot in their population category (1-500).

Alan Chessell, Service Officer for the Royal Canadian Legion, Tofield Branch holds the poppy tray he left at The Tofield Mercury Friday. Legion members went up and down main street delivering trays of poppies, the Legion’s annual fundraiser prior to Remembrance Day on November 11.

The traditional Royal Canadian Legion poppy campaign kicked off across the country on Friday, Oct. 26.

C.W. Sears hosts 18th Annual Family Literacy Night

C.W. Sears School in Tofield hosted their 8th annual Family Literacy Night with the theme “Every Reader is a Star”.

The evening was held on Thursday, October 25th and started off with a warm welcome from grade one teacher Linda White.
