Video-conferencing equipment needed by RCMP

On Tuesday, June 12, five of the detachment’s seven constables appear-ed as witnesses in Vegreville court. The appearances took up the entire day requiring the RCMP to reschedule shifts.

“This is killing our budget,” said Warren. To try and keep costs down the detachment has to be run with less than a full complement.

Tributes poured in at the 30th annual Sodbuster Rodeo for the couple who brought rodeo to Tofield three decades ago.

Glenn and Theone Jones were squired into the arena in a beautiful horse-drawn wagon, before Theone was presented with flowers and Glenn received a 30-year buckle from Tofield Agricultural Society Rodeo Committee Chair Rick Neufeld.

Tofield mill rate same as 2011 despite spending rise – Growth in commercial sector offsets increase

The Town of Tofield Council has approved a 2012 budget and mill rate for purposes of income tax levying.

The council has kept the total mill rate the same as the previous year, despite the fact that spending has gone up by 3.7 per cent since that time.

Tofield RCMP handle assaults and break-ins

On Friday, May 25, RCMP attended a complaint of an assault in Ryley. Sgt. Jim Warren reports that one man was charged with assau-lting a female in a domestic dispute.

On Saturday, May 26, RCMP attended a disturbance at The Garage Bar and Grill and Tofield. A female was charged with uttering threats, mischief and resisting arrest.

Ryley School graduates had plenty to smile about as their loved ones gathered with them Saturday night to celebrate graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2012.

Thirty students took to the stage at the Ryley Community Centre for their exercises after enjoying a beautiful banquet dinner with toasts and greetings from local dignitaries.

Tofield Sodbuster Rodeo is set to “kick our heels up” for the 30th annual rodeo this weekend, and it is sure to be a fun-filled weekend to enjoy!

The annual kick-off  of the Rodeo Promenade (Street Fair) takes place on Friday from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Tofield Chamber of Commerce has organized a variety of food, activities and entertainment throughout the night. Bring the kids and come enjoy this night of fun!
