County establishes new maintenance and snow clearing level of service policies for rural roadways

Policies for maintaining roads and for snow clearing levels of service were passed by Beaver County Council Feb. 15. The county previously did not have an official road maintenance policy, although there was a certain standard based on current practices.

Beaver County Council passed a road construction priority policy for 2012-2016 at its mid-February meeting. However, one councillor objected to the county spending almost $1 million to upgrade six miles of road local residents complain is being “pounded out” by oil and gas trucks.
