Tofield RCMP rushed to help their fellow officers Feb. 7 after shootings left two Killam detachment members in-jured and another man dead on a rural farm site southeast of Sedgewick.

Const. Sheldon Shah and Const. Sydney Gaudette were shot when attempting to execute a search warrant for an illegal firearm at the home of Brad Clarke. Clarke died in the house after shots were fired, and his nephew, Sawyer Clarke Robison escaped. He was on the run until last Friday morning when he turned himself in after being charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Valentine’s Day chan-ges in significance as couples age.

Once they’ve passed the starry-eyed young lovers stage, when they are so much in love that their heads hurt and not talking to each other a dozen times a day brings on heart palpitations (not the good kind), Feb. 14th is no longer the day that marks how deep their love is, sort of like a high water mark after a flood. It isn’t that special day when partners prove how much they love one another with expensive gifts.

The owner of a mailbox just off a rural highway wants to know how it got so badly mangled.

The box was welded to a 10 ft. metal pole that was put five feet into the ground and set in concrete, with the remaining five feet above ground. Whatever hit the box tore off the door, mangled the hinges and dented one side of it. Instead of facing east and west, it now faces north and south.
