First reading passed for rezoning of lands – owners plan multi-lot subdivision

Beaver County Council passed first reading on a rezoning application to change 155 acres from agricultural district to country residential. A public hearing will be held at 11 a.m. in the county office chambers in Ryley on Wednesday, Dec. 14.

He’s our mayor now, but that may all change in a couple of short months. After successfully capturing three terms in the mayor’s chair, Tofield’s Nabil Chehayeb has set his sights even higher politically. He is the second local candidate to throw his hat in the ring for the Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville P.C. nomination.

Even Tofield Mayor Nabil Chehayeb couldn’t help but comment on the irony of splashing around the idea of a spray park on one of the first blustery winter days of the year last Tuesday.

Yet town council heard from an industry leading manufacturing company about toys, sprays, shooters, and much more during a 40 minute presentation, compliments of Shelley Robinson.

County denies Nature Conservancy donation request

Beaver County Council met Nov. 16 and dealt with a request from the Nature Conservancy of Canada for a donation to compensate them in part for the $17,000 in extra taxes it paid this year when certain papers were not filed in time on two recent land purchases made in the county.

The Christmas season kicked off in Tofield Saturday with the Christmas Craft Fair at the community hall. Vendors and shoppers filled the hall as holiday themed music set the tone for this annual event.

People shopped, visited, lunched, and just took in the sights and sounds of the season. Children visited with Santa Claus. who listened to each child’s wishes for Christmas. Then each child received a bag of goodies to send them on their way.
