Tour de l’Alberta cycles through Tofield

For the second straight year, the 160 km route of the Tour de l’Alberta came through the local area.

Tofield organizer Jeff Edwards, the town’s Assistant CAO, estimated about 110 cyclists stopped at the rest area set up on the east side of Tofield to accommodate those making the one-day journey from Beaumont and back again.

During the past week Tofield RCMP received 50 calls for service.  Included in the calls for service were 5 motor vehicle collisions and two false alarms. 

On July 18, 2017 Tofield RCMP received a call of a break and enter at a rural address in Beaver County. The caller advised they were looking after the house for the homeowners when they came to check on the house and found the door broken and the house was rummaged through.

Local pool popular place to learn how to swim – 300 kids will take Red Cross swimming lessons this summer

Summer time is here and so are Red Cross swimming lessons at the Ryley Pool and Wellness Centre.

The weekly sessions started July 4 and will continue to Aug. 25. Those taking the lessons can take a one or two week session.

With the wet spring weather, construction was delayed at the site of the new locally owned independent ag retail outlet called Holden Crop Management.

Located to the west of the Village of Holden but still lying within village boundaries, the construction at the site was set to start in the spring. Now that it has finally begun, the work will be ongoing this year.
