Beaver County councillors will be lobbying the provincial government for a way to upgrade the old or build a new seed cleaning facility to replace the aging plant in Holden.

Beaver County Council heard that a safety practice by pilot trucks for wide loads is considered dangerous and unwarranted by local RCMP. The practice involves veering into oncoming traffic to force them over to the side of the road prior to the arrival of huge vessels moving down the highway.

The Tofield Satellites didn’t even need some of its top stars like Captain Brian Tavaroli or Ryan Olson on Saturday as the talented home team destroyed winless Consort Comets 12-2 at Tofield Arena.

The win was the second in a home-and-home series with Consort, with the Satellites winning the previous evening on the road 7-1.

Former Fort Saskatchewan mayor Jim Sheasgreen was ready and willing to meet Tofield and area constituents in his quest to be the P.C. nominee for Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville in the next provincial election.

However, few attended the meet and greet at the Tofield Golden Club from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12.

Although she only signed her nomination papers Jan. 4, Strathcona County councillor Jacquie Fenske has been tirelessly campaigning for the P.C. nomination in this riding ever since Ed Stelmach declared his intention to step down as MLA.

She held a meet and greet at Tilly’s Restaurant in Tofield on the evening of Wednesday, Jan. 11 where she spoke of her reason for seeking the nomination.
