The regular meeting of the Holden Village Council took place on Monday, Dec. 19 with Mayor Christine Mackay, and councillors Reg Kaluzny, Bernie Marko, Peggy Nahirniak and Carissa Oswald present. Also present was Village CAO Katherine Whiteside.
Council authorized the unbudgeted expenditure of $5,000 for grader repair and $3,000 for floor replacement in the lift station.

About 40 people attended an open house for public input on a water management study of the Vermilion river at St. Mary’s Hall south of Holden Thursday, Jan. 12.

Just a few words describing the water fun that might be a dream come true in 2012.
Tofield Town Council has been researching the mechanics and features available in spray parks.
I’ve decided to take full advantage in 2012 of my advanced years so have made a few resolutions regarding same.
• I will no longer consider Velcro closures on my shoes and wearing socks with sandals as fashion faux pas but as perfectly acceptable, even expected, wearable clothing for my age group. When possible I will coordinate sock colour with my shirt, especially when wearing purple.
Economic Development in Holden gave a special award to John and Sylvia Piwowar.
