16-year-old Ty Yoder from Tofield on 3-game point streak with WHL’s Victoria Royals
Victoria Royals Ty Yoder from Tofield scored his first goal as a 16-year-old rookie in the Western Hockey League last week in a loss to Portland Winterhawks.
“It was just a normal neutral zone play,” he said to the local scribes. “We usually do hybrid icing and try to beat it out. Cutler dumped it in, D-Jay was after the puck and I went to the net. Cutler found me and I just threw it on net and saw the puck go in. I looked at Cuts and we were both very excited. It was really good to get my first goal in this league.”
The goal came in the 23rd Major Junior hockey game for the Tofield youngster, who was relieved by finally scoring. Teammate Jameson Murray grabbed the puck.
According to Head Coach Dan Price, “The players were really happy for him. He almost had a couple more in the game. He was around the puck and the net. He works hard and it was good to see him rewarded.” . . . contd.
