Tofield RCMP cautions drivers; five MVC reported with deer

During the past week, Tofield RCMP responded to 35 calls for service. This included eight motor vehicle collisions, five of which involved hitting a deer.

On May 20, there was a report of a residential break and enter while the home owner was out visiting neighbours. The house was rummaged through but nothing was taken. Reported to police for information only.

On May 21, there was a report of a suspicious vehicle that was checking out old farm yards. Tofield RCMP members located the black Ford Mustang on a gravel road and questioned the occupants. They stated that they were looking for their grandparents’ old farmstead. Both occupants were checked and released without charges.

During the afternoon of May 21, a group of riders were trail riding in the Blackfoot Recreation Area, which included an off duty RCMP officer from Tofield. An 11-year-old-girl fell off her horse and broke her leg. The off duty officer called for help and with assistance from another off duty member, was able to stabilize the child and get EMS to their location for evacuation.

On May 22 at 2:30 in the afternoon, a Tofield RCMP member located an intoxicated driver. The male blew a fail on the roadside screening device. He was subsequently arrested and brought back to the detachment for a breath test. The male was later charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and failing to comply with a breath demand. . . . contd.
