Ryley Pool hosts its 7th Annual Christmas Turkey Lunch

The Ryley Community Hall parking lot spilled over to the Main Street on Thursday, Dec. 5, as residents from Ryley and surrounding areas came out to participate and support Ryley Pool’s fundraiser – a Christmas Turkey lunch with all the trimmings.

Thrilled with the great turnout, Susie Williams, Ryley Pool’s Aquatic Manager said, “We always look forward to this event, and this was our seventh year. We’re very fortunate to get the support that we get from all the swimmers and community members.”

Williams said all the kitchen staff volunteered their help, and stepped up to make the event a seamless one.

Anne Ewert was serving up dessert of various kinds for all the guests. She said that she had served up more than 100 pie slices as guests attended the Christmas Turkey Lunch.

“Each year we try to rotate the help we get from our board members, so that no one’s overworked,” Williams explained. “We’re really happy with the attendance; because of the community support, we have been able to raise more than $2,000 this year.”

Funds will be used for various maintenance projects for the Ryley Pool.

“We want to cover and repair the sidewalks to the pool, which have been slippery and could do with some maintenance,” Williams added. “We’re also going to replace doors at the facility, including the main entrance door.” . . . contd.
