EDITORIAL: Opinions need accompanying names
We encourage Letters to the Editor. People love to read other people’s opinions, and we love to put them in the paper.
Caribou Publishing newspapers like ours have, over the many years, run readers’ opinions on almost every subject you can think of and we continue to do so.
That’s never been easy for people in small town Alberta. You have to have guts to give your opinion, especially if it goes against the grain even slightly these days.
After articulating a well constructed letter, the writer has to consider how many friends, neighbours, and relatives will be ticked off by their written words. Then they must weigh if the benefits of expressing themselves is worth the blowback.
Crumple, crumple, chuck! . . . contd.
