I don’t know why but I’ve been recalling the good old pre-Covid days when sick kids were sent home from school. It was hard on some moms, depending on what type of patient the kids were. Some were pathetic little creatures needing lots of attention, hugs and orange Popsicles while others were cranky creatures from the swamp and downright nasty.

My kids were somewhere in the middle. They whimpered but seldom bawled ‘Why me?’ but their sad puppy dog eyes made it clear that I was expected to make them all better. But a simple kiss wouldn’t work the magic it did on a scraped knee; I had to be Supermom with a medical degree. . . . contd.
