Tofield Sodbuster Rodeo is set to “kick our heels up” for the 30th annual rodeo this weekend, and it is sure to be a fun-filled weekend to enjoy!
The annual kick-off of the Rodeo Promenade (Street Fair) takes place on Friday from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Tofield Chamber of Commerce has organized a variety of food, activities and entertainment throughout the night. Bring the kids and come enjoy this night of fun!
Three rodeo performances throughout the weekend will be sure to entertain everyone – Friday’s performance starts at 6 p.m. (note time change) with Saturday and Sunday regular performances beginning at 1 p.m. Announcer Emery Erickson and rodeo clown Earl Anderson return to Tofield to help commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Sodbuster Rodeo.
Co-sanctioned with the Lakeland Rodeo Association (LRA) and the Wildrose Rodeo Association (WRA), the Sodbuster Rodeo annually attracts nearly 400 entries! Concession will be open and the beer gardens will be running during every performance. There’s lots of rodeo to be seen, so come on out and enjoy the show!
Kick-off your Saturday with the Sodbuster Breakfast at the Arena. Enjoy a full breakfast – pancakes, eggs, ham, sausages, muffins, fruit, juice and coffee. What a way to start your day! Proceeds from this year’s breakfast will go towards the C.W. Sears Playground Project.
And check out some new activities on the grounds this year – starting with the Tofield Showcase and Market in the Tofield Curling Rink. Several home-based and local businesses will be participating – items on display and items for sale – something you should check out! If you would like a table, contact Anne at 780-662-3613.
Try your luck at the Draft Horse “Guess the Weight” contest, have the kids dig for treasure at the “Treasure Pit,” and check out the CFCW Summer fun truck on–site.
After a full day of rodeo fun, satisfy you appetite at the beef supper in the Arena.
Kick-up your heels and enjoy some great music and dancing at the rodeo dance. Performing this year are Shane Yellowbird and Sweet Tequila. Tickets are $35 and are available at Tofield IGA or the Tofield Town Office. You won’t want to miss it!
Sunday morning brings the return of the always popular Cowboy Church – featuring the Rawling Brothers at Tofield Arena. We welcome you to attend.
Wrapping up the day’s activities are the final rodeo performance at 1 p.m. on Sunday, and the Tofield Showcase and Market.
