Halloween pipe dream
Getting ready to hand out treats this year is unlike any other Halloween. Usually all we have to do is buy candy and dole it out in response to the calls of “Halloween apples” or “Trick or treat.”
Our usual treats are those little candy bars – which are getting ridiculously smaller every year – plus maybe some bubblegum, kisses or suckers; each costumed child gets three treats. We always save a few candy bars, especially Oh Henrys, for ourselves, even though if there’s one thing we don’t need its chocolate bars. To make it seem less of a no-no we call it dessert and wash them down with green tea. . . . contd.
